look out, they're in the kitchen again
We keep claiming this is part of the research for the auction dinner we're cooking at the end of January, but really, we just like to cook.

dinner: shrimp, marinated and then wrapped in pancetta and grilled on skewers. This was appallingly tasty and has definitely made itself a place on the dinner menu.

gratineed cauliflower (with yummy grated parmesano-reggiano and lots of butter). I imagine we'll use this as one of the vegetables...

pan-braised veal rolls, stuffed with a mixture of spinach and pancetta. Once we get the right sort of meat for these, they'll be unbeatable.

You cook, you. Hola.

Happy New Year and small world (I found your page via Lothie). When is the next time you'll be on the Peninsula? I still owe you a lashing with a wet noodle for charging off to see Neil Gaiman and Harlan Ellison without letting me know beforehand ... *sob*

You might have to apply the selfsame noodle to her travel agent... ;)

Oh, I never lay a finger on travel agents. You never know what they may come in handy for and you certainly don't want them to hold a grudge against you.

I meant "travel agent" colloquially *giggle* -- we went on my frequent flyer miles.

*gasp* So, you were a witness at this historic meeting.

Did Neil get any light scorch marks or did Harlan play nice?

Neil and Peter clearly had been innoculated, as they were unscathed. Some audience members took a mild beating (though it seemed Harlan's insults were formulaic -- he called virtually everyone assholes.)

We decided it was The Harlan Ellison Show, with occasional interruptions by Neil Gaiman and Pater David. Neil's presentation charmed me thoroughly and I found myself reading Stardust and Good Omens on a trip a couple weeks later.
