new Christmas tradition
Go to a gay karaoke bar* with xthread. Fail to get drunk. Hash up a song not in my range that I don't know well enough.** Fail to get thrown out on my ear.

Shall have to do this more often than once a year.

*No green-skinned demons, though.

**"Crucify", Tori Amos

Current Mood: gigglygiggly

You could always go there dressed asa green-skinned demon.

Just a suggestion.

BTW if you like karaoke, the American Legion hall in Redwood City has a very nice karaoke set-up on Friday nights. No cover charge and a good selection of songs.

It's a thought, but I'm not that snappy a dresser, alas.

Clearly, between you and yohannon, I am being guided to try out this place in RWC. The King of Clubs in Mountain View didn't have a cover on Thursday, but I don't know what they're like on weekends. It was a nice atmosphere, though.

Snappy dressing is not required for the American Legion, trust me. I've gone there in jeans and a polo shirt. No one is done up to the nines.

No, no, it was a Buffy reference. I'm not a sufficiently snappy dresser to pull off the green-skinned look. Must get more sequins!

(chuckles) They prolly won't know what to do with us. :P

Hugs!

Actually, there are karaoke bars that will let you bring your own music. Unfortunately, I don't remember all of the different karaoke formats.

If you bring your own music, how do you remove the lyrics?

I should've been more specific. You can bring your own karaoke music;
just make sure the club supports your music format. (There is more
info about karaoke formats at http://www.karaoke.com.)

You can also buy vocal eliminators. (Possibly, the club has them.)
Some pro audio stores will do vocal elimination for you for a fee, but
if you think you're going to use your own music often, you're probably
better off buying your own. You can probably get a good deal on eBay
if you don't want to buy new.

With work you can be thrown out. We were tossed from the bar in three minutes; though we had a prop.
