and in the self-inflicted pain category
... I submit the act of accidentally filling my diesel truck with gasoline. Six hundred dollars later, it's running normally again. And at that I was lucky, said the dealer ominously, that I didn't blow a head gasket.

The embarrassing thing is, I don't even remember making the mistake. As I wrote to a friend, maybe I should stick to driving while awake.

In the eh news category: B in Biology. Thoroughly deserved, I am sure.

In the good news category, 1G of memory for my G4 iBook finally arrived, and it is at last singing as it should. 256M was just not enough for the way I use this box. 1.12G is much better.

Current Mood: d'oh!

Have you thought about converting it to run on vegetable oil?

I don't actually want to convert it, as its primary purpose is horse hauling and I don't want to be caught in the wilds of somewhere with a full load of horses and without a handy supply of fuel. I'm interested in homemade biodiesel, and I have a long-term to-do of buying some almost-scrap diesel car and converting it for grins.

what you really need

is a way to convert the manure you are carrying into fuel, it would be a great system ;)

Well, as I said earlier, an expensive lesson to be sure... but we won't be doing *THAT* again.

Let me know when ye want to go get the kids.

Well, should be this weekend, but I will either be starting from Berkeley on Saturday afternoon, or from San Jose on Sunday morning. Anita's at the farm all weekend nursing her new filly, so I'll have help loading. I'll call you when I head out -- you should be able to meet me & help unload, which would also be appreciated. :-)

Sounds like a plan, then!
