One of the lovely and shareable things that came my way was this Rainer Maria Rilke quote:
"If you will cling to Nature, to the simple in Nature, to the little things that hardly anyone sees, and that can so unexpectedly become big and beyond measuring; if you have this love of inconsiderable things and seek quite simply, as one who serves to win the confidence of what seems poor: then everything will become easier, more coherent and somehow more conciliatory for you, not in your intellect, perhaps, which lags marveling behind, but in your inmost consciousness, waking and cognizance."
Which reminds me to note that I finally gave in to the urge to garden (again) and picked up a couple of shrubs and a couple of pots of bunchgrass at the CNPS sale in Los Altos last Saturday. My goal for this weekend is to get them in the ground. Somehow.
About a quarter-cup of toasted walnuts, emergency food. (Fled the house breakfastless and 20 minutes late for my 8am class.)
Scrambled eggs and 4 slices of applewood smoked bacon (yay whole foods) plus a small bit of turkey sausage
a whole wheat croissant with 3 pats of butter
(which promptly reminded me that, yes, I am sensitive to wheat. Really, no fooling, knock it off already. Sigh.)
1.5L of water with an emergen-C lite in it.
Lunch was a subway spinach and chicken salad (really quite good once we got the dressing straightened out) with their regular ranch dressing. I was surprised to order an "atkins safe" salad and be handed fat free dressing. Weird. Also had a grande breve latte. Must lay off the dairy.
Dinner: another lovely chunk of pot roast.
And finally, before bed, a cup of herbal tea delivered by elflet. I shall have to ask for this more often.
