"As an out-of-the-broom-closet Tarot reader, I'll tell you that anyone who uses the cards for predictions is a faith-addled moron. I use the cards for divination, for pattern-matching, for looking at complex multivariant human issues in a new way. When I read for others, I do the same thing: offering different paths, different choices (because there are always choices), and sometimes even different goals."

I am cynical and completely unfaithful and hopelessly skeptical, but I too think tarot cards are quite nifty, simply because they are great tools for breaking you out of your established train of thought and exploring avenues of contemplation that you normally wouldn't go down. I agree that Mark said it quite nicely.

I wish I hadn't left my deck at home on this trip.

Which deck do you use? (Which decks have you encountered that hopelessly turned you off, and why? :-)

I have some purty thing. I got it because I liked it last time I was in New Orleans and had a street reading done. The girl who did it was also a purty thing.

It's some celtish whatsit. I'll tell you when I get home.

I like purty things.
